AC-&-Refrigeration

Career training so cool, you’ll get goose bumps! At Apex’s heating and cooling school, you will be taught the skills to repair and maintain domestic and commercial air conditioning and refrigeration systems, as well as electrical controls, major home appliances and gas fired heating systems. During this HVAC refrigeration program, you will spend a total of 450 hours learning in-class and 450 hours completing hands-on training. By the end of the HVAC program, you will have been taught to troubleshoot and evaluate the performance of refrigerators, air conditioning, and appliance equipment.

This program also prepares you to take the EPA Type 608 certification exam. To work in the HVAC industry, technicians who maintain, service, repair, or dispose of refrigerant-containing equipment are certified under the Environmental Protection Agency’s Section 608 of the Clean Air Act. This class is designed to teach the basic vapor compression cycle and how refrigeration systems work.

An HVAC technical school, also called an HVAC school, provides hands-on learning to students who wish to pursue work in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, appliance controls, and refrigeration. Apex’s HVAC training program offers classes that help prepare students for an entry-level position in the field.

HVAC service technicians install, repair and maintain heating systems, air conditioning units, ventilation systems, appliance controls and refrigeration equipment. Depending on their specific role, HVAC techs may work in residential environments like single family homes or multifamily apartments, or they may work in commercial settings like office buildings, hospitals and schools.
