Wondering how to apply to trade school? Call or message us today to speak to an Apex representative about applying to trade school.  We’d be happy to schedule a time for you to come in and look at our shops and the equipment with which you’ll be training, and help you complete your trade school application.

Trade School Requirements

  1. To enroll in a program at Apex, you must be at least 17 years of age and have parental consent if you are under 18. You may be enrolled if you are 16 1/2 years old and have a release letter from your New York State high school.
  2. If you do not have a high school diploma or equivalency certificate (GED), you must achieve a satisfactory score on a standardized examination.
  3. You will be invited to Apex to see if trade school is right for you, and you will have an interview with an Admissions Representative at Apex.
  4. You will be given information on the cost of attendance and financial assistance you may be eligible for.  After careful consideration and you determine that Apex is right for you, you will sign an enrollment agreement and pay an application fee.

Trade School Financial Aid

Financial aid assistance is available for those who qualify. Apex’s Financial Aid Office staff members can assist you in determining what types of financial aid may be available to you and will help guide you through the application process. Visit our Financial Aid Main Page for more information or call Apex to schedule a visit.

Transfer of Hours

If you have previously taken similar courses and instructional hours at another state or federally licensed, registered, or trade school accredited post-secondary school, you may be permitted to enroll with credit for those hours upon:

  1. Proof of successful (minimum grade C) completion of those hours
  2. Passing the Apex’s final exams for each segment of its course for which you are seeking transfer of credit
  3. Presentation of an official transcript and course description

Advanced Standing

Advanced standing may also be granted to students who have demonstrated proficiency in one or more of the segments in Apex’s program. Advanced standing is conditioned upon the applicant passing Apex’s final examinations for each segment for which the applicant seeks credit. Advanced standing and transfer of credit for instruction received at another school are subject to the applicant’s successful completion of Apex’s regular entrance requirements and the approval of the School Director.
